Mikayla Fennelly
EESSC 2025/26 - STAR 4 & STAR 8I am a Provincial Trained Figure Skating Coach with 10 years of coaching experience, including several years dedicated to synchronized skating. I first laced up my skates at the age of five, and nearly two decades later, my passion for the sport continues both on the ice as a skater and behind the boards as a coach.
For me, coaching is about more than teaching technique, it's about building confidence, inspiring a passion for skating, and helping each skater discover their strengths both on and off the ice. I strive to create a positive and welcoming environment where skaters feel supported, motivated to challenge themselves, and excited to learn, grow, and have fun every step of the way.
Outside of the rink, I work as a Registered Massage Therapist. Interestingly, my journey into massage therapy was also born from my skating career. Like many athletes, I faced injuries growing up, and I was fortunate to have an incredible support team of healthcare professionals who helped me heal and return stronger. Their care not only got me back on the ice but inspired me to help others in the same way. In 2024 and 2025, I was honoured to be recognized as the Gold Winner in the Massage Therapy category through St. John's CommunityVotes.
I also hold a Black Belt in Taekwondo and I am a three-time Canadian-American Gold Medalist in the women's sparring division. Taekwondo has taught me discipline, focus, and mental toughness. Qualities that have shaped the way I coach, treat, and live.
Whether I'm at the rink or in the clinic, my goal remains the same: to inspire confidence, encourage growth, and help others achieve their full potential.
